KATE WALLICH | DIRECTOR + CHOREOGRAPHER Kate Wallich is a Seattle-based choreographer, director and teacher – named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” in 2015. She received her training from Interlochen Arts Academy and Cornish College of the Arts (BFA in Dance, Magna Cum Laude).

In 2010, she founded her project based dance company, The YC, with co-founder Lavinia Vago. Her work has been commissioned and presented nationally and internationally by On the Boards, Velocity Dance Center, The Rauschenberg Foundation, MANA Contemporary, Springboard Danse Montréal, TOES, Bumbershoot, Conduit, Current Sessions, City Arts Festival, The Frye Art Museum, Henry Art Gallery and Seattle Art Museum as well as by leading West Coast companies Whim W’Him, Raw Dance and Northwest Dance Project. She was a Visiting Artist at University of Washington, University of Oregon, Cornish College of the Arts and University of Utah.

Kate has created two evening-length works with The YC: Super Eagle produced through Velocity Dance Center’s Made In Seattle program and Splurge Land produced through On the Board’s Performance Production Program. Kate has received awards and grants from 4Culture, Artist Trust, The Glenn H. Kawasaki Foundation, Seattle Magazine’s “Spotlight Artist Award” and was a two-time pilot resident at the Rauschenberg Residency in Captiva, Florida. She is among Seattle’s top contemporary dance teachers, leading packed classes through her own brand of movement technique.

LAVINIA VAGO | DANCER Lavinia Vago is a dance artist from Italy, based between NYC and Seattle. She graduated Magna Cum Laudefrom Cornish College of the Arts, under the mentorship of Pat Hon, Wade Madsen and Tonya Lockyer. She has worked with Zoe Scofield, Kt Niehoff, Anna Conner & Co, Sidra Bell Dance New York and Korhan Basaran and Dancers. She currently performs & tours internationally with Montréal based Rubberbandance Group; she creates and performs with Loni Landon Projects and is assistant to the choreographer in commissions; she is also a member of Vim Vigor, a dance theater company based in Brooklyn directed by Shannon Gillen. She has been co-directing, creating, collaborating and performing with Kate Wallich/The YC since 2010. Lavinia was a creative residence at Velocity Dance Center, where she continued to develop her solo work to be further researched and presented in the future. She, along with Kate, was a Pilot artist at the Rauschenberg Residency in Captiva, where she recently returned with the same wonderful group of artists as Residency 16.

DAVID HARVEY | DANCER David Harvey was raised on Bainbridge Island, WA. He studied dance at Interlochen Arts Academy, The Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington DC, and the Alonzo King Lines Ballet School, where he was awarded the Shenson Performing Arts Fellowship by the San Francisco Foundation. He then joined Alonzo King Lines Ballet in 2008, as the first student from the school to be offered a position in the company. During his time at Lines, he contributed to the creation of 12 new works, and danced soloist roles in almost 400 performances in 140 cites across the globe. David has been teaching and choreographing for the Lines Ballet preprofessional education programs since 2009. He has also been working as a dancer for Bobbi Jene Smith since 2010. He retired from Lines in 2014, and is currently a freelance teacher, dancer and choreographer. Harvey will be presenting his newest solo work, Brake Tender, through the Northwest New Works Festival at On The Boards in June 2016. This is his first project with Kate Wallich/The YC.

TOM WEINBERGER | DANCER Tom Weinberger was born in Israel in 1987, and graduated from the Amal School of Arts and Sciences. Tom joined the Batsheva Ensemble in 2005 and continued to the Batsheva Dance Company from 2008 to 2011. Tom has also worked as a freelance dancer with Barak Marshall, Sharon Eyal and Guy Behar, the Gothenburg Ballet, Michael Keegan, and the Forsythe Company. He has taught Gaga, Ohad’s repertoire, Sharon Eyal’s repertoire and has created his own work at the Netherlands Dance Theater Summer Program (2010 - 2014), the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, the Taipei National University of the Arts, Springboard Dans Montreal and more. He has created his own work through Batsheva Dancers Create and in 2014 won the International Solo Tanz Theater Festival, and was a guest artist at SUNY Purchase University through the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Foundation residency program. Tom joined The YC in 2017.

THOMAS HOUSE | DANCER Thomas was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA where he trained in dance with Denise Wall. He then continued his training at Purchase College, SUNY where he earned his BFA in dance. While in school he had the opportunity to study dance abroad in Taipei, Taiwan for four months. Thomas currently lives in Brooklyn, NY where he works as a freelance dance artist. Thomas has worked and performed with companies Aszure Barton & Artists, Loni Landon Dance Projects, LoudHoundMovement, Kate Wallich/The YC, TOES for Dance, Abraham in Motion and Zoe|Juniper. He has also performed works by Lar Lubovitch, Merce Cunningham, William Forsythe, Doug Varone, Twyla Tharp, Fernando Melo and many more. Thomas recently choreographed and premiered his own work “to see. [arena] reaction to you.” in NYC this past October.

JOBEL MEDINA | DANCER Jobel Medina was born and raised in the Philippines. He received his BFA in Dance at the California University, Long Beach. Jobel is currently a dancer for Ate9 Dance Company in Los Angeles. He has performed dance works for LA based dance companies such as NoONe Art House, Whyteberg, Acts of Matter, Keith Johnson and dancers. Jobel has been dancing with The YC since 2018.

TARIQ MITRI | DANCER Tariq Mitri was born in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E, and raised in Portland, OR. He received a B.F.A in Dance from California Institute of the Arts in 2015, and has had supplemental training from the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and LINES Ballet. After graduation, Tariq freelanced  in Los Angeles for Rosanna Gamson WorldWide, WHYTEBERG duo Laura Berg & Gracie Whyte, Bessie Award Winner Julie Bour, Limon Company Artistic Director Colin Connor, Rebecca Lemme Acts of Matter, Dance Ageis, and Pasadena Dance Theatre. He's performed works by Sidra Bell, Christian Burns, Jonathon Fredrickson, David Harvey, Ohad Naharin, Price Suddarth, and Kate Wallich. In 2016, he performed with the Des Moines Metro Opera, and was a participant in the 13th annual Seoul International Dance Competition. Tariq is currently based in Seattle, WA and dances with The YC & YC2, and NYC based company MADBOOTS Dance. He also performed in two different programs for the Seattle Art Museum in 2017: Sculptured Dance (with The YC) & Summer SAM Remix (in collaboration with Ella Mahler.


AMIYA BROWN | LIGHTING DESIGNER Amiya Brown is a Theatrical Designer and Visual Performance Artist, specializing in the medium of light.  She grew up studying dance and performing professionally in her early 20's.  After receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Drama from the University of the Incarnate Word, she worked as a performer, lighting designer, and theater practitioner. In 2010 she received a MFA in Theatrical Lighting Design from the University of Washington. She collaborates with generative Performance Artists, Choreographers, and Theatre Companies.  Her designs have been produced at On the Boards (Seattle, WA), The Baryshnikov Performing Arts Center (NYC), The Jocye SOHO (NYC), REDCAT (Los Angeles, CA), The Guthrie Theatre (Minneapolis, MN), The Della Nuova Danza Roma (Rome, Italy), and Theatre Le Quai (Angers, France) among others. Long time collaborators include Kate Wallich + The YC, Velocity Dance Center, Pat Graney, Amy O’Neal,  zoe|juniper, Alice Gosti, and Kyle Loven.


JOHNNY GOSS | MUSICAL DIRECTOR is a composer, sound designer and multi-instrumentalist. He is owner, producer and technical engineer at Dandelion Gold in West Seattle. He is half of the nationally recognized duo Cock & Swan, which specializes in mesmerizing rhythmic loops and vintage electronic experimentalism. In the past ten years he has been a resource and advisor for the Seattle music community recording artists like La Luz, Lonesome Shack, Mike Dumovitch and Brad Dunn.

ANDREW J.S. | KEYS + VOICE Andrew J.S. is an interdisciplinary artist based in New York, dealing in the realms of photography, music, design and experience. His recordings as a solo artist — The Rain at Night — are out now.

WILL HAYES | GUITAR William Hayes is a Seattle based sound artist, guitarist, and electronic musician. He composes music and sound design for film and live performance and is guitarist for Newaxeyes, who recently recorded their debut album with producer Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Earth, Wolves in the Throne Room, Boris, Marissa Nadler). He received a Bachelor of Music in classical composition in 2013 from Cornish College of the Arts where he studied under Wayne Horvitz and Jarrad Powell.

KRISTIAN GARRARD | DRUMS is a multi-instrumentalist and composer living in Bothell, WA. He currently plays in the bands Thousands and Lonesome Shack.
